TRAVEL SMARTS WITH DAVE AND LYNN HAGGARTY

travel smarts

How do you get good travel pictures? Easy. Start by being in the right place at the right time! OK, not so easy when you’re constrained by other people’s schedules and expectations when on a cruise or organized tour, or even with family and friends. Over the past several years, Dave and Lynn have visited such far-flung locales as Australia and New Zealand, various countries in Asia, Africa and Europe, and even the Canadian North. Interspersing their talk with several short slide shows, they’ll discuss realistic expectations and ways to minimize your photographic disappointments when on the road.

Members and past members of Ottawa’s RA Photo Club will celebrate together at a 75th Anniversary Banquet on Tuesday, November 18th. Tickets are now on sale for $35 at the regular Tuesday evening welcome table in Clark Hall or at anytime at the east desk of the RA. This very special event will be held in the Clark Hall in lieu of our annual Christmas dinner.

It will consist of a cash bar 6–7pm followed by a lovely dinner coupled with special guest speakers covering the ages of Photography Past, Present and Future. In addition to current members, many past members and several special guests will also be in attendance. Special slide shows will add to the evening’s eye candy as you socialize and network before and after dinner.

Abstract Assignment & General Competition

Abstract
Like abstract art, Abstract photography concentrates on shape, form, colour, pattern and texture. The viewer is often unable to see the whole object. The focus is often only a small part of it. Viewers of an abstract shot may only know the essence of the abstraction or understand it by what is implied. Normally the object or image will not be a literal view of the subject.

A single assignment image must be entered.

Once the assigment image has been entered then a single general image may be entered.
