Phil Norton, Prince Edward County photographer

Meet Phil Norton. We hope to be seeing Phil in our excellent lineup of speakers in 2019. He has been speaking to camera clubs from Brockville to Cobourg, including Brighton, Quinte, PhotoNat, Loyalist Photojournalism classes, Northumberland, Kingston awards banquet, Brockville and judging in Napanee and Picton as well as Ottawa and the Canadian Farm Writers photography contest, among others. Please see below for a message from Phil Norton about an upcoming workshop that he is holding that may be of interest.

To the RA Club of Ottawa:

Hello from Prince Edward County…

Just to let you know that we have various workshops and tours going on this winter in “The County” and Kingston areas.

I know you have plenty of snowy owls up your way but on January 19th this all-day trip to Amherst Island is a place apart, more than the owls and eagles. We lead you into the home of an interesting farm family that should have its own reality TV show! You’re out in the frozen Lake Ontario for the day photographing ice formations along the rocky shores and old bank barns and stone walls.

It’s probably a 2 and a half hour drive to the ferry dock. Or stay
overnight in The County and attend my Contemplative Photography Workshop the following day, January 20. Details on the website.

Right now I am putting on The Photographic Evolution which shows the history of photography within 4 generations of my family, and
particularly the digital revolution of the past 20 years. I was in the
photography department of The Montreal Gazette from 1996 – 2001 which placed me on the cutting edge of the new technology as it evolved. The other aspect deals with the evolution of each photographer’s particular style and vision through our lifetimes.

Thanks!

Phil Norton
