Fall Challenge Outing to Lac Philippe in Gatineau Park
Saturday October the 9th some dozen hardy nature photographers gathered at
5:45 am in the RA parking lot and headed for the Gatineau hills for the
first item on a full day agenda at Lac Philippe. They were there in time
{6:40 am} to capture the sweet light of the morning dawn and eventual
sunrise at 7:11am. By 8:00 am the majority of the 34 members who
participated in this annual event, which is open to all Photo Club members,
had arrived and they dispersed on the three trails which were on the program
of the day. One trail (#50) wandered along the shore of Lac Philippe for 5
km and eventually to the Lusk Caves. This trail demanded stamina and
perseverance and some hardy souls made it their objective. Trail number 54
was a more gentle 3.5 km hike to Lusk Lake through some mixed forest
environment and crisscrossed by a wayward brook. Most of the participants
gathered for lunch at Parent Beach for a well deserved break at mid day and
some good natured exchanges and conversation on things photographic. The
dogged stalwarts continued to explore this enchanting environment for the
afternoon.
