My photographs are part of a personal project-in-progress photographing bridges crossing the Rideau River in Ottawa.\u00a0 The project is not documentary; rather I am exploring the visual designs that result from framing these structures in the square viewfinder of the camera.\u00a0 The bridges are an accessible but often ignored photographic subject and I hope the viewer will enjoy the pictures that can be made using these features of our cityscape.
\nThe photographs on display are toned gelatin-silver prints made from medium format film negatives.\u00a0 I find personal rewards in tackling both the artistic challenges in composing with the camera and the craft challenges of print-making.\u00a0 My inspirations include the work of photographers David Plowden (USA) & Geoffrey James (Canada).
