{"id":2811,"date":"2011-05-18T16:54:36","date_gmt":"2011-05-18T20:54:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.raphotoclub.ca\/wp\/?p=2811"},"modified":"2011-05-18T16:54:36","modified_gmt":"2011-05-18T20:54:36","slug":"2011-2012-competitions-topics-and-format-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.raphotoclub.ca\/wp\/?p=2811","title":{"rendered":"2011-2012 Competitions Topics And Format Change"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bruno Di Lalla (Competitions Committee Chair) writes:<\/p>\n<p><em>Based on the results of the Competitions survey, the following announcements were made at the Annual Awards Banquet on the 17th of May 2011:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Format Change<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Six On-Topic Competitions, each accompanied by a General Competition.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Competitors MUST submit one, and only one, photo on topic and then have an opportunity to submit one, and only one, General Entry, regardless of the medium .<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>The entries may be submitted as a Print, digital slide, or film slide medium.<!--more--><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Awards Changes<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Assignment Awards presented at each level to photographers who achieve the best score in the six assignments entries allowed.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>General Awards presented at each level to photographers who achieve the best score in the six general entries allowed.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Photographer of the Year Award presented to the photographer who achieve the best score in all twelve entries allowed; six assignments and six generals.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>September \u2013 Nature<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>The image should show the natural world, without the Hand of Man in evidence.<br \/>\nEar tags, bird bands, and radio collars are permitted. Images with domesticated animals or plants do not qualify.<br \/>\nImages ranging from macro shots up to and including panorama, landscape, skyscape, waterscape are eligible.<br \/>\nZoo and game farm shots are eligible providing no hand of man is in evidence.<br \/>\nAny kind of artistic interpretation of a natural subject is allowed, but the nature aspect must be retained.<br \/>\nPost processing is permitted to the extent where it allows the creator to show the image in the way it appeared when clicking the shutter.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>October &#8211; Urban Still Life<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Graffiti on a wall, leaves on a grate, lampposts in the fog, architectural interests, empty streets at night, urban trash, building decay, isolated refuse, etc.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>November \u2013 At Night<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>The image must be taken at night<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>January \u2013 Motion<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Every component of the image must be processed from photos taken on or after the 18th of May 2011.\u00a0<br \/>\n<\/em><em>The photographer has free interpretation of the subject.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>February \u2013 Cityscapes<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>The photographer has free interpretation of the subject<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>March \u2013 Faces &amp; Figures<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>A photographic portrait which is a representation of a living person, especially the face, OR a photograph in which the subject, the human body, is the primary interest.<br \/>\nEntries are limited to POSED photographs of one or more human beings.
