Members and past members of Ottawa’s RA Photo Club will celebrate together at a 75th Anniversary Banquet on Tuesday, November 18th. Tickets go on sale shortly for the event to be held in the Clark Hall at the RA Centre, 2451 Riverside Drive, Ottawa.
Former club members are especially invited to join current members at the Anniversary banquet. The evening offers ex-members an opportunity to renew old acquaintances and share fond memories of their RA Photo Club experiences.
A full colour 40-page souvenir Celebrating 75 Years: RA Photo Club of Ottawa 1939-2014 has attracted brisk sales from front desk volunteers, more than 80 copies being snapped up to date at $10 apiece. Tracing club history in words and photos since its formation in 1939, the magazine style booklet was produced by an RA Photo Club team – Editor Joy McDonell, writer Nix Wadden, Research Hans Foerstel – with layout by RA production staffers Isabelle da Silva and Andrea Barchard and cover design by Yannis Souris. Content was drawn largely from reports on club activities written in the RA News, club newsletters and website blogs, as well as contributions from members past and present.
The souvenir booklets will be on sale at the annual RA Photo Club Open House this Tuesday, September 30th. Booklet sales will also be made at all club meetings throughout the 2014-2015 season, and copies may also be obtained, on request, by mail.
Serving close to 300 members, the RA Photo Club offers a well-rounded program of weekly presentations, studio workshops, urban and nature outings, instructional courses and convivial gatherings of photographers. Tuesday night club programs this season are planned to reflect the anniversary theme.
