Last Saturday I attended an all-day workshop called Strobist Lighting 101.
If you have ever been mystified by your off-camera flash, how it works, why it
works, or more importantly, why it doesn’t work like you want it to – then Richard
Whitbread’s workshop “Strobist Lighting 101″is a great way to learn. A lot of us
are intimidated by our flash – the light is often too harsh, too weak or just not at all
what we wanted. This workshop provides some very easy techniques and
knowledge which will help your photography immediately and then works its way
up to the point where you may wonder why you need expensive studio lighting at
all (not that strobist lighting equipment doesn’t cost – it’s part of photography
remember).
This workshop is all about the light and we all know how important it is to work
with light. In my humble opinion this is one of the best workshops offered to club
members by the RAPC. If I can retain a third of the information that Richard
provided I will be well on my way to feeling comfortable with flash photography.
Thanks to Richard and his over-the-top hard work and Bianca our very patient
model for the day.
