Last Saturday, Mike Giovinazzo led a studio workshop celebrating the nude figure in photography. Lighting was key. There were a number of interesting, and for the studio novice, complicated lighting setups. One approach was to take a fine-art photograph, deconstruct or break down the lighting technique and then try to duplicate the process in our own studio. (see aove) When in doubt – improvise. Lighting body-scapes and thinking in terms of black and white conversion were all discussed along with some of the classic poses. Many thanks to Mike and to our model April.
