SHADOWS COMPETITION, NOVEMBER 2012

Feast or famine! At the last competition (Architecture), 80 ribbons were awarded; this time, 23. No Print of the Night and no Slide of the Night, because no score was 26 or higher. The parsimonious (but fair and knowledgeable) judges were Eric Bowden, Gilles Vezina and Claude Wauthier. Click here for their bios.

“Too many design elements!” was the judges’ plaintive refrain. It seems with abstract themes like Shadows, simplicity is quickest path to the judges’ hearts.

The first-place finishers:

Luc Delorme, Intermediate, White Sands Sunset, 21 points
ON-TOPIC SLIDE
Dina MacLeod, Junior, Shadow of a Sinful Spell, 25 points
Robert Matyas, Intermediate, Fortifications, 22 points

Rachelle Carriere and Dina MacLeod gained promotion to Intermediate. Perhaps to compensate for the famine, the Competition Committee increases the number for entries from 2 to 3 (two on-topics and one general) for the next competition, Solitude.
