2015 RAPC VOLUNTEER AWARDS

Volunteer awards recognize service to the RA Photo Club, rather than photographic abilities. They are for the people who make the club work, so that all of us can enjoy it.

It is an honour to be nominated for an award because it means that other members of the club appreciate the way you have been helping. But, nominated or not, please be assured that whatever service you have provided to the photo club is very much appreciated.

The Outstanding Contribution Award goes to people who have volunteered in a significant manner during their first 5 years of membership. Up to 5 of these awards can be given each year, but people can only receive it once. This year we have 5 award recipients:

Rob Fillion
Peter Locke
John Groves
Dave Moryas
Anna Nitoslawksa

The Alice Gillies Award is named after our club’s first life member, who died in 2008. It is for people who have been in the club for 5 or more years, for contributions to the club and to photography in general. The executive presents one Alice Gillies Award per year, on the recommendation of the awards committee. This year, there are 15 eligible nominations. The winner is Bill McCloskey.

To all of these winners and to every volunteer in the club we offer our most sincere thanks for their work over the years.

The volunteer awards were given out during our Annual Banquet on May 19. We are grateful to Vistek (499 Bank St) and Henry’s (267 Bank St) for donating some fabulous door prizes.
