The urban group went to Montreal on the weekend of April 15-17th.  Everybody went up on Friday afternoon. We had 9 participants with everybody staying at the Sheraton, right downtown (members who went were Marc Gaudet, Corry Berghout, Maureen Murphy, Abigail Gossage, Cherly Kreis, Cynthia Stewart, Freeman Keats, David Burt, Barbara Bolton).

With the beautiful weather on Friday afternoon, we headed for the St-Henri area by metro, which is filled with old buildings, residential and industrial, in various states of repair.  That evening, we had a pleasant late dinner on Crescent right near the hotel.

We had breakfast at Cora’s both days which was the time we’d plan the day according to the weather. During the weekend the group explored: the Atwater Market and area, St-Catherine’s, abandoned buildings.  A few wandered the wet deserted cold early morning streets seeking the perfect light, and being in Montreal with cameras, we had to explore the metro system as well.

Good times were had by all.

    1. Babcock & Wilcox Boiler Factory - location

On the border of the City of Westmount and the Saint-Henri district of the Sud-Ouest borough. The factory is behind the town homes at Rue Richelieu & Rue Saint-Ferdinand. We got into the building by getting onto a path under the Ville-Marie Expressway approaching from the east of the building. Between the path and the factory there is an old chain link fence that is bent over in places, and so can be stepped over. The ground slope down to the fence is less steep at the west end of the building. There are stairs inside the building - the ones on the west end of the building are easy to access.

1st Photo URL has google map part way down with an X on the building.
