The venerable Pentax spotmeter was often used by zone system “practitioners” following in Ansel Adams footsteps to determine subject brightness range and film exposure. They are still sought after and can go for $300 on the auction site. Although various models were made none included web browsing, email and mp3 playback…
… but the iPhone apparently does all that AND can work as a spotmeter – at least using the LightMeter app.

Definitely cool but I won’t be ditching my trusty Minolta IVF meter just yet!
Thanks to new member John Healey for the tip, he has been using an iPhone spotmeter app successfully with his Rollei MF camera.
