DALESMITHGALLERY is pleased to present In the Playroom, a stunning new body of work by Ottawa photographer and art director Jonathan Hobin.
“These cautionary stories stand in sharp contradiction to contemporary childrearing approaches that endeavour, albeit without much success, to keep the harsh realities of the world at bay for as long as possible. In actuality, just like their parents, children bear witness to the 24-hour news cycle and its accompanying commercial breaks. As such, the onslaught of media images, sound bites and other disjointed bits of received information can be understood as modern cautionary tales for today’s child.” – Jonathan Hobin
In the Playroom is presented in conjunction with X Ottawa Photography Festival 2010.
