Izabel Dabrowski and Robert Day
So here we are the day after Open House and we have all survived the experience! I’d like to thank everyone who participated, from those who spent a lot of time in preparing the various activities to those who came, observed, and participated.
I am always amazed at how it all comes together. Visitors come in and cannot believe just how much goes on in the club, and just how friendly and welcoming everyone is. Everything went very smoothly, from the Print Display, to the AV Shows, to the Studio Workshop and the Darkroom visits. The various groups within the club were well represented. There appeared to be something for everyone – just not enough time for one person to do it all.
It’s hard to estimate how many visitors we had. The best I can say is that there were 175 ballots in the “People’s Choice” voting. Considering the number of people who never left the Studio all evening, I would guess we had well over 200 visitors. (A late note from the RA indicated there were 20 new registrations last night of which 13 were new members. I’m sure there will be more to come).
Although the Open House is there mostly to acquire new members, there was something there for everyone. At the front desk we saw people who just walked in out of curiosity, to members who had been away for a while and were considering returning, and of course the current members, new and old. From everyone’s reaction we think there will definitely be many “Newbies” in the next few weeks.

[I would like to extend our many thanks to Izabel and her team – Well done]
About the only person who could have used more attention last night was the bar tender. He was lonely and could have used more company. Alas, last I heard he was heading for the Studio.
Above are a couple of my shots of the Open House (I promised Simona I would start off with hers – no wonder the Studio was such a big attraction). Last photo was provided by Howard Sandler.

Yes well done to all for the hard work and making it such a success!! 🙂
I especially like the temporary arrangement with a second studio room so that more people could visit, as our regular one was so packed.
