The RA Photo Club’s Studio has come a long way this year. Despite very tight working conditions in the “temporary” room the club has been using there have been many improvements to both the lighting equipment and the workshops provided. Congratulations and thanks to Richard, Mike and Howard for their leadership and hard work.
I’ve been lucky enough to attend several of the workshops this year and each one has been of value to my photographic experience (although I still have a long way to go). On Saturday, at a Lingerie Workshop led by Mike Giovinazzo we spent some time using gels to cover a light to turn a basic black background into something approaching a rosy red (or pink- or maybe purple).
This worked pretty well until the lamp started to burn the gel and the room got a little smokey. No harm was done and though there were a number of comments about our “hot” model a good time was had by all. Thanks to Mike and our model Kristina for their great work in making this a fun (and useful) afternoon.
