It’s the 75th anniversary of the RA Photo Club, and I should have some momentous pronouncement to make.
But I have writer’s block! I can’t think of any way that I can adequately thank all of you that worked so hard to make this Open House a success. I should also find a way to thank everyone who attended and participated in the activities: you voted for your favourite prints, saw fantastic AV Shows, shot lovely models in the Studio, kept your hands off (mostly) the vintage cameras on display (my, have epuipment changed in the 75 years the RA Photo Club has been around!). You admired the images in the many, many photo books produced by club members. You even managed to speak to the various interest groups to find out what will be happening at the Club in the coming year.
So what can I say about the Open House? It was attended by more than 200 visitors (judging by how many ballots were cast at the Print exhibit). The prints were all awesome, as a result votes were cast for a great many of them. There was however, a clear cut winner of the “People’s Choice” Award, but their identity is usually revealed only at the Christmas Party. The door prize, a beautiful gift basket, was won by Eleanor Zurbrigg of Nepean.
So thank you all! The Club has been around for 75 years, and will probably go on for at least that many more. It has obviously changed greatly in that time (check out our publication about the history of the Club), but some things have not changed: we still all share a passion for the art form; we enjoy the friendships we make on workshops and outings; and we are always anxious to learn more.
Same time next year?

25 years from now, some RAPC historian will quote from Izabel's last paragraph.
